FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS & UTILITY INFRASTRUCTURE
MasTec’s experience with the U.S. military installations precedes World War
II when the company installed telephone networks and electric distribution
systems throughout the southern United States. Today, MasTec builds underground
pathways and installs the latest-generation fiber-optic and copper
telecommunications networks on military bases, providing a high-speed
communications backbone for command and control, educational, training and
administrative systems.
We have strengthened the communications backbones of Army, Navy and Air Force
bases by:
- Designing and building an underground telecommunications pathway
interconnecting more than 300 buildings at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.
- Connecting 120 buildings at Barksdale AFB, LA, by trenching, directional
boring and installing 150 miles of duct and fiber cable.
- Trenching, boring and installing fiber-optic backbone at China Lake
weapons training facility for the Navy.
- Designing and building redundant, concrete-encased telecommunications
pathways between a New Jersey Army base and a research facility.
MasTec’s strength results from our decades of working in the trenches
installing networks. Unlike some companies that only provide project management
while subcontracting the actual installation, MasTec provides complete
end-to-end services for our customers. We have the depth and breadth of
resources that enables us to simultaneously manage and execute multiple
telecommunications projects on government facilities nationwide.
MasTec also works in partnership with leading government systems integrators
operating under long-term Department of Defense ID/IQ delivery-order contracts
to update information infrastructure at major Army, Air Force and Navy
installations nationwide. These long-term projects marry MasTec’s quality
conscious engineering and design, outside plant construction and premise wiring
capabilities with our ability to simultaneously deploy to military installations
and government facilities nationwide from our more than 200 U.S. locations.
MasTec crews and managers proactively adhere to the government’s rigorous
construction standards. Because we reinforce these precise standards at all
levels of our design-build teams and work closely with on-site government
supervisors, we ensure completion of complex projects to exacting
specifications, on time and on budget.
